Slow your roll for early spring bass and panfish. Both the Pannie Pounder and Pig Pounder are what i like to call search and destroy type lures. I put them in the same category as a spinnerbait or inline spinner. Lures like these are nice because they can be casted around easily and retrieved at varied speeds making them quick yet very effective. In early Spring most species are still a little slow due to the winter cold so fishing slow is as important as anything else if you want to catch lots of fish. The Pounders are great because they can be fished extremely slow, I personally like to reel them just fast enough to get a little blade action going and every now and then i'll give it a twitch to make the worm look lifelike. You will find that the fish will smash these baits like it's their last meal. One very important thing to keep in mind during the Spring is that the fish will be seeking out the warming waters. They don't like the cold anymore than you and all it takes is some sunshine to warm the shallows enough for the fish to pile in. Don't be surprised if you find fish in just inches of water trying to take in the sunshine! When it comes to locating spring fish this is key, especially shallow water structures. Any weedbeds that still remain or logs can be fish magnets as the water warms. Find these areas and fish your pounders slow, you'll be amazed at how many fish you will catch!
